Mexican President Vicente Fox visits Rocky Point
Mexican President Vicente Fox visits Rocky Point….. The President of Mexico Vicente Fox visited Puerto Penasco marking his second visit there. During his visit, the President discussed the Nautical route under construction. President Fox was also presented the plans for the new International Airport. The Nautical Route is a project up the coast intended to allow for boats to stop of at each location on the nautical route if it so desires. The Nautical route of Peñasco is incorporated to other routes that are in construction, like the ones at La Paz, San Blas, Mazatlan, Santa Rosalia, San Felipe and Guaymas; it is a plan that includes five states and 22 municipalities. The plan is for the nautical route of Penasco to be a platform for receiving eleven to thirteen boats of thirty feet, besides restaurants, a gas station and supermarkets. During his stay, President Fox was updated on the plans for the new International airport in the Puerto Penasco area. President Fox was presented with the construction project of the new airport, which will have the same level as the airport's of the greatest cities in the world. Daniel Chavez Moran, director of the Mayan Resorts complex, explained to him that this project was made in alliance with the State Government, and that the aerodrome will have a modern infrastructure distributed in a terrain of 1,600 hectares. He added that it is an investment of 50 million dollars, and that it will be surrounded by a lake of 300 hectares, with a modern Mexican architecture. It is expected that the first stage of the airstrip will be ready in September of 2007
